Women's Basketball Preview: Coastal Carolina

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Head Coach Nicole Woods and the UNCW women's basketball team closes out the Thanksgiving break with a 2 p.m. matchup vs. rival Coastal Carolina on Sunday at Trask Coliseum.

GAME COVERAGE SERIES INFO
The Seahawks have fared well historically against the Chanticleers, owning a 23-9 record against their southern teal foe. However, Coastal has the recent upper hand with wins in the series' last four meetings.

The two programs will square off for the third straight year and fourth time in the last five seasons. The Chanticleers won the previous meeting, 68-53, in Conway one year ago.

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman guard Kylah Silver (16 points) finished one shy of her career-high points total in Wednesday's 64-51 loss vs. Presbyterian. Silver scored half of her points in the fourth quarter while senior guard Evan Miller contributed 11 markers.

Silver (12.8 ppg), Miller (10.3 ppg) and freshman guard Taylor Henderson (10.3 ppg) are the Seahawks' top scorers through four games.

SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS
Coastal rebounded from a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference losses at Georgia Tech and Duke with wins on the road against South Carolina State and Furman and at home vs. Charleston Southern.

The Chants look to push their win streak to four in their fifth road game this season. In total, Coastal will play six of its first seven contests away from the HTC Center to begin 2023-24.

Graduate guard Deaja Richardson paces the visiting Chants with 16.5 ppg. Freshman forward Alancia Ramsey is Coastal's top rebounder at 10.2 rpg.

LOOKING AHEAD
UNCW begins a four-game road stretch on Wednesday at Winthrop. The Seahawks will play seven of their next eight games away from Trask Coliseum with the lone home game occurring vs. NC Central on Dec. 21.
