Women's Basketball Preview: Western Carolina

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's basketball team begins a three-game homestand with the annual Seahawks Tomorrow education game on Thursday vs. Western Carolina at 11 a.m. at Trask Coliseum.

GAME COVERAGE SERIES INFO
The Seahawks carry a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series vs. the Catamounts. UNCW downed WCU, 60-51, last season in a neutral site contest contested at the Cherokee Invitational Showcase at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, N.C. last December.

The Catamounts last visited Wilmington in 2014, where the Seahawks hold a 4-2 record at home vs. WCU.

SEAHAWKS TOMORROW
UNCW is scheduled to host 14 schools from a record six different surrounding counties (Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender) and just over 1,800 elementary school-aged kids. The mission of these games is to plant the seed of higher education early on by bringing young students onto their hometown college campus.

The Seahawks are 11-6 all-time in Seahawks Tomorrow contests, which returned last year following a three-year pandemic-related absence.

LAST TIME OUT
Four Wofford players reached double figures scoring to turn back UNCW, 74-49, last Saturday in Spartanburg.

Senior center Lexi Jackson (10 points, nine rebounds) finished one rebound shy of a double-double to pace UNCW in the loss.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
WCU looks to snap a two-game losing skid after an 81-56 defeat at UAB on Monday. The Catamounts are in the second leg of a four-game road swing that continues on Saturday at Campbell.

Junior guard Chelsea Wooten paces WCU with 11.3 ppg and has connected on 28.6 percent (6-of-21) shots from three-point range.

LOOKING AHEAD
UNCW continues a three-game homestand just before Thanksgiving with a 2 p.m. contest vs. Presbyterian on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
