Lanz Leads Volleyhawks To Weekend Sweep

HAMPTON, Va. – UNCW's Katie Lanz's 13 match-high 13 kills led three Seahawks in double digits as UNCW made quick work of Hampton in a sweep (25-16, 25-11, 25-20) on Sunday in Coastal Athletic Association volleyball action at Holland Hall.

UNCW ran its record to 10-12 with the road win and 7-5 in the CAA. Hampton remains winless at 0-14 and 0-12 in the league.

The Seahawks moved into a tie for fourth place in the standings with the sweep.

Joining Lanz, who rounded out a double-double with 11 digs, were Alexa Brezeault and Emily Hanlon with 10 kills apiece. Brezeault finished with a .667 hitting average with no errors.

UNCW hit .381 on the match, its second-highest average of the season.

Maria Edu Rodrigues paced Hampton with 10 kills.

UNCW hosts Delaware on Oct. 28-29 in its annual Pink Weekend.
