Isley, Seahawks In Second At Poston Invitational

SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Fueled by nine birdies over the first 36 holes, UNCW's Walker Isley is tied for second overall at the J.T. Poston Invitational on Monday at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

The Seahawks moved up two spots in the team standings in the second round and sit in second, five strokes behind the leader, Coastal Carolina. UNCW owns a three-stroke lead over Colonial Athletic Association rival Elon.

Isley (70-68=138) opened the tournament with a one-under-par of 70 and was tied for fourth. He worked his way into second going three-under in the second round, which he opened with four birdies in the first six holes.

Isley is one stroke behind Georgia State's Jordan Jung (72-65=137). Joining Isley in second are Coastal Carolina teammates Tyler Gray (70-68=138) and Seth Taylor (69-69=138).

Patrick Sparks matched Isley's 68 in the second round and moved into the top-20 and is tied for 18th.

UNCW, Coastal Carolina and Elon will tee off the final round at 10:05 a.m. on Tuesday.
