Volleyball Swept By CAA Rival Charleston

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Anna Smith's match-high 14 kills lifted the College of Charleston to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23,25-15) sweep of UNCW on Sunday in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action at Hanover Hall.

The Cougars upped their record to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the weekend sweep of the Seahawks, who fell to 3-10 and 1-3.

Smith finished with 14 kills and came up short of a double-double with nine digs. CofC was able to take advantage of 20 hitting errors by the Seahawks and recorded nine service aces.

UNCW's offense was led by 10 kills by Katie Lanz. Caitlin Callahan had five total blocks, including four solo, for the second straight outing.

The Seahawks continue CAA play next weekend when they visit Northeastern for a two-match series beginning on Oct. 8.
