Seahawks Finish Second Following Record Round

PAWLEYS ISLAND, South Carolina – The UNCW women's golf team closed out the final round with program records of eight-under-par and a 276 score to finish in second place at the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on Tuesday.

The Seahawks reset the school's single-round benchmark behind two top-10 finishes from Mallory Fobes and Phu Khine, who combined for 12 birdies in the third round.

Campbell (279-277-278=834) won the tournament for the second straight year and the sixth time overall. Austin Peay State's Erica Scutt edged the Camels' Tomita Arejola by one stroke for the individual title.

"I can't tell you how proud I am of this team. They had an amazing performance today," said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. "We stayed patient throughout the tournament and things finally clicked on the back nine. It was a total team effort with everyone's scores and steady play contributing to this great start to the year."

Fobes, who carded a four-under-par 67, finished with a share of fourth place after authoring five-straight birdies from holes 13-17. Khine posted a career-best five-under-par 66 to close out the Seahawks' first fall event tied for eighth.

The Seahawks are idle until Sept. 23-25, when they participate in the Furman Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
