Men's Golf Opens Season Tied For Sixth

DURHAM, N.C.- Juniors Patrick Sparks and Walker Isley posted top-20 finishes at the Rod Myers Intercollegiate as UNCW finished tied for sixth overall in its season-opening tournament on Sunday.

Alabama cruised to the team title with an impressive 11-stroke win over host Duke at the Duke University Golf Club.

The Seahawks carded an eight-over-par 295 in the final round to finish tied with Liberty and a stroke behind UNCG for fifth.

Isley (76-70-71-217), who tied for 17th, paced UNCW for the second consecutive round, finishing one-under for the third round. Sparks (70-71-75-216), meanwhile, posted UNCW's top finish, tying for 15th.

The Seahawks next compete at the J.T. Poston Invitational in Cashiers, N.C., on Sept. 26-27.
