Women's Soccer Preview: East Carolina

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's soccer team continues a three-game homestand with a Thursday matchup against East Carolina at UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Kick-off will be at 7 p.m. with the game live streamed on FloFC with Jim Whitmeyer and Tom Lamont on the call. Live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.

The Seahawks (2-1-1) enter fresh off a 3-1 victory over Coastal Carolina in their home opener last Sunday. The Pirates (2-2) have won two straight games against 2021 NCAA Tournament teams in High Point and Old Dominion.

UNCW received goals from a trio of Seahawks – Kayla Burroughs, Jordan Faveri and Talia Parrous – in the win over the Chanticleers, including two headers by Faveri and Burroughs within 13 minutes in the first half. Junior midfielder Madison Henry added two assists versus Coastal Carolina after scoring a goal at VCU last Thursday.

The Pirates outscored the Panthers and Monarchs, 5-0, with junior goalkeeper Maeve English fashioning back-to-back shutouts for the second time in her career.

FIVE FACTS TO KNOW

SERIES HISTORY | The Seahawks and Pirates link for the 24th time overall and first since 2017. It marks the Pirates' first game in the Port City in eight years. ECU was the Seahawks' fourth-ever opponent in the 1994 inaugural season, a narrow 3-2 Pirate win in Greenville, N.C.

HAWK'S NEST | UNCW has been a tough out at home with a 20-5-1 record in Wilmington under fifth-year Head Coach Chris Neal. The 917 fans in attendance on Sunday versus Coastal Carolina was the highest mark in the Neal-era.

JUST JORDAN | Faveri netted her ninth career goal in her first start of the season against the Chants. The senior forward appeared as a reserve in the first three games.

ASSORTMENT OF SEAHAWKS | The Seahawks have averaged just over 25 players played per match through four games, with 20 different Seahawks drawing starts. Defender Chloe Mills paces UNCW with 295 minutes played this season.

LOOKING AHEAD | Following Thursday, the Seahawks will turn their attention to a Sunday matinee against High Point. The contest is slated for a Noon start at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
