Isley, UNCW Win First Tournaments Of The Season

PINEHURST, N.C. – Sophomore Walker Isley won his first collegiate tournament and Drew Hackett finished second to lead UNCW to its first tournament victory of the season on Sunday at the Forest Creek Collegiate at the Forest Creek Golf Club.

The Seahawks won the 36-hole event by 11 strokes over Davidson and VCU, who tied for second in the 11-team event.

Isley, who earned Colonial Athletic Association Golfer of the Week honors last week, continued his stellar play and edged Hackett by a stroke for medalist honors. Isley finished the tournament at four-under after carding a new career-low round of 68 on Sunday.

Hackett, meanwhile, finished at three-under over the course of 36 holes.

Joining Isley and Hackett in the top-10 for the Seahawks were Lansdon Robbins and Sander Akeren, who were tied for 10th at three-over.

Next up for the Seahawks is their own home tournament, the Seahawk Intercollegiate on Mar. 27-28 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington.
