Men's Golf Finishes Second at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – The UNCW men's golf team posted a runner-up finish at the weather-shortened Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.

The Seahawks (283-278=561) finished the 36-hole event five strokes behind UNC Greensboro, one year after winning the team title in Durham. The tournament was shortened by a round due to weather delays on Monday.

UNCW's Ethan Boyette and Mauricio Tello both posted five-under-par 139 over two rounds to earn a share of sixth place. George Mason's Vijay Powell claimed individual medalist honors.

UNCW led the 13-team field with 128 holes of par or better, including 30 birdies and an Eagle by freshman Will Ruth on Hole No. 7 in Monday's first round. Boyette and Tello combined for 15 birdies.

The fall slate continues for the Seahawks at the Elon Phoenix Invitational from Oct. 12-13.
