Women's Basketball Enters Blue Hen's Nest

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW women's basketball team concludes its four-game road trip with a Sunday matinee matchup at Delaware at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Sunday's game will tip-off at 1 p.m. and will be aired on FloHoops.com. Live stats will be available online at UNCWStats.com.

The Seahawks enter play with a 3-15 record and are 0-8 in the CAA. The second-place Blue Hens, riding a four-game win streak, stand 14-5 overall and hold an 8-1 mark in conference play.

UNCW, seeking its first win in eight games, is hitting 36.2 percent from the floor while Delaware is connecting on an even 40.0 percent from the field.

UNCW is paced by senior guard Sierra DaCosta with 13.2 ppg.

Delaware senior forward/guard Jasmine Dickey, the CAA's leading scorer at 25.4 ppg, leads the Blue Hens into battle. Redshirt senior Ty Battle enters averaging a double-double with 13.4 ppg. and 10.8 rbs.

Dickey, the 2021 CAA Player of the Year, is coming off a historic effort in Friday night's 103-79 win against Charleston. The Baltimore, Md., product erupted for career-highs in points (52) and rebounds (18) in the win.

The two conference rivals last met on Jan. 26, 2022, in Trask Coliseum where the Blue Hens edged out a 78-69 road victory.

UNCW returns home on Friday, Feb. 11, against Elon at 7 p.m. The game, kicking off Homecoming weekend, marks the first time the Seahawks will hit the Trask Coliseum floor since Jan. 26.

FIVE FACTS TO KNOW

SERIES UPDATE | Delaware leads the all-time series, 33-10, and have won five straight games against the Seahawks.

OLD FRIENDS | UNCW assistant Tina Martin served as Delaware's head coach from 1996-2017. Martin, the program's all-time wins leader with 408 victories, led the Blue Hens to four NCAA tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2013. She also ranks third all-time with 210 CAA regular season and tournament victories.

WELCOME BACK | The Seahawks welcomed back sophomore guard Mary McMillan on Friday at Drexel. It was McMillan's first game action since Jan. 9, 2022.

GAME CONNECTIONS | Delaware head coach Natasha Adair will be meet up with a familiar face on Wednesday night. UNCW aide Asia Williams played for Adair when she was an assistant coach at Wake Forest. UD assistant coach Mykala Walker also played on that Demon Deacon squad.

LONG-DISTANCE FUN | UNCW is third in the CAA in three-point shooting. Seven players have fired in a three-pointer. The Seahawks are connecting on 31.3 percent from deep.
