UNCW Meets James Madison in Sunday Matinee

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW women's basketball team plays the third leg of a four-game road trip against James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association action on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Atlantic Union Bank Center.

The Dukes enter with an 11-13 overall record and 7-6 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks stand 3-20 overall and are 0-13 in the circuit.

UNCW last played on Friday, a 67-51 setback at Towson. Graduate guard Carrie Gross and redshirt senior center Asia Henderson each scored 10 points for the Seahawks.

JMU looks to regroup after a close 71-69 loss to Charleston on the AUBC floor on Sunday. Junior guard Kiki Jefferson, the CAA's second-leading scorer, led the Dukes with 20 points against the Cougars.

UNCW and JMU last played on Jan. 21, in Trask Coliseum where the Dukes prevailed, 57-56.

After the Seahawks took a 56-55 lead with 3:01 remaining, sophomore forward Annalicia Goodman gave James Madison a one-point edge when she connected on a lay-up off a feed from sophomore guard Jamia Hazell. UNCW had a chance to retake the lead, but Sierra DaCosta's lay-up with two seconds left missed the mark and the Dukes held on for the win.

Following Sunday afternoon's game, the Seahawks travel to Elon on Wednesday, Feb. 23, for a test against Elon at the Schar Center.
