Seahawk Men Claim 14th CAA Championship

UNCW women finish second, best finish since 2010

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The UNCW men's swimming and diving program captured its first Colonial Athletic Association championship since 2014 with a dominant wire-to-wire effort while the women finished second, their best finish since 2010.

On the final day of the meet, UNCW earned three more gold medals as Brooke Knisely and Sam O'Brien combined to sweep the 1650 Free and Courtney Klausen won the 1-meter to sweep the diving events.

Both Knisely and O'Brien set school records in the distance event with times of 16:14.31 and 15:27.16, respectively. For Knisely, her time was also an NCAA B cut time. O'Brien became the first Seahawk to win the event since 2003.

Klausen, meanwhile, scored 276.40 points in the 1-meter and Tatum Church finished second with 265.85 points.

UNCW combined to win 16 events during the championship meet.

For the Seahawk men, the title was the 14th in program history and halted a brief streak of consecutive second-place finishes.
