Five Golds For Aquahawks At CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – UNCW totaled five gold medals and two more program records as the Seahawk men increased their hold on the lead while the women remained in striking distance following Friday's final session at the Colonial Athletic Association championships.

The men now have a 280-point lead over Towson heading into the final day of the meet. The women, meanwhile, trail William & Mary by just 19.5 points.

Henderson Louviere continued his impressive showing at the meet, notching another gold medal and NCAA B cut time in the 100 Fly with a school-record time of 46.99 seconds.

Katie Knorr, a freshman, delivered a gold medal in the 400 IM when she clocked in at 4:19.72.

Aidan Duffy, another UNCW freshman, finished off a sweep of the 400 IM when he set a program record with a time of 3:50.01, which was also an NCAA B cut time.

Rounding out the Seahawk gold medalists were Will Barker and Nic Newis.

Barker touched the wall in a time of 48.04 in winning the 100 Back.

Newis, meanwhile, set a career-best in winning the 3-meter with 310.45 points.

UNCW's programs have combined to win 13 gold medals through 30 events.

A busy day on Saturday wraps up the 2022 championship meet. The prelims start at 10 a.m. followed by the prelims for the women's 1-meter dive at 12:30 p.m. The final session will again start at 6 p.m.
