Netters Begin Seahawk Ocean Classic

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's tennis team won four of six singles matches in Friday action of the Seahawk Ocean Classic sponsored by Atlantic Packaging at the UNCW Courts.

More than 50 women's tennis players from six schools are taking the courts this weekend. The Seahawks are joined by Appalachian State, Davidson, George Washington, Longwood and VCU in the three-day event.

Senior Anna Daniels (Matthews, N.C.) and freshmen Eda Arli (Izmir, Turkey), Gabbie Glickstein (Raleigh, N.C.) and Meredith Taylor (Birmingham, Ala.) all registered singles victories. Overall, the Seahawks went 4-2 in singles and 1-4 in doubles on the first day.

Play resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Seahawks begin the day with doubles vs. Longwood. UNCW plans a special ceremony on at 1:15 p.m. to recognize longtime Associate Head Coach John Ware.
