Women's Soccer Inks Five For 2023 Campaign

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW women's soccer Head Coach Chris Neal has announced the addition of five student-athletes to the Seahawk program for the 2023 season.

"I'm excited to welcome these new Seahawks Positionally, we checked a lot of boxes with this class," said Neal. "They have all been in great training and playing atmospheres with their coaches and clubs and I expect them to have an immediate impact."

Reagan Ackermannackermann
Position: Forward
Height: 5-7
Hometown: Myersville, Md.
High School: Middletown
Club Team: St. James FC Virginia (Girls Academy)

Highlights: Participated in U.S. Youth Soccer ID Training Centers from 2017-19 … selected for Maryland State ODP Training Pool in 2016 and 2017 … played club at St. James FC Virginia under coaches Christian Cziommer and Bobby Puppione … partook in many national showcases including the GA Champions League Showcase, NCFC Showcase and Penn Fusion Showcase.
 
Coach Neal Says: "Reagan is an extremely creative attacker with a knack for scoring goals. She can impact our attack in a variety of positions."

 

Kate Coxcox kate

Position: Defender/Midfielder
Height: 5-10
Hometown: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
High School: IMG Academy

Highlights: Appeared in over 90 matches for IMG Academy from 2018-22 … played under IMG coach Miguel Rodrigues … helped the team to the national playoffs in the 2021 and 2022 seasons … Four-time participate of the GA Summer Playoffs … partook in the GA Champions League showcase in spring 2022 … played in the DA showcase in 2018.
 
Coach Neal Says: "Kate is a versatile player that can play in the defense and midfield. Kate has played at a high level and will be graduating early to join us for the Spring 2023 season. I expect she will benefit tremendously from joining us in January."

 

Rachel Fryfry
Position: Defender
Height: 5-7
Hometown: Greensboro, N.C.
High School: Northern Guildford
Club Team: N.C. Fusion

Highlights: Played two years of soccer at NGHS … totaled seven goals and three assists … won school's Defensive Player of the Year award as a junior … played club career with NC Fusion under coach John Pardini … participated in several national showcases with the Fusion.
 
Coach Neal Says: "Rachel is a great athlete that plays with a nice combination of skill and aggression. She has been called on to play a variety of positions for her club team and has been successful everywhere she has played."

 

Kitty Popepope
Position: Goalkeeper
Height: 5-11
Hometown: Manchester, England
High School: Chapel Hill (N.C.)
Club Team: North Carolina FC
 
Highlights: Earned All-Regional South Atlantic Player while playing club for NCFC …averaged 0.50 goals against and over 40 saves for Coach Dave Arensdorf … All-Conference, All-Regional and All-State Performer at Chapel Hill High School … named Goalkeeper of the Year after collecting 61 saves and limiting opponents to an 0.48 gaa for the Tigers … also played basketball during her freshman year at CHHS … brother, Callum, played for the North of England Rugby team.
 
Coach Neal Says: "Kitty has a very high ceiling as a goalkeeper. She has great presence and can distribute the ball very well. I'm excited to help her reach her potential."

 

Anna Perry "A.P." Sinclairperry
Position: Midfielder
Height: 5-8
Hometown: Clinton, N.C.
High School: Clinton
Club: Wilmington Hammerheads ECNL

Highlights: Two-time All-County, All-Region, and All-State performer for at Clinton … also won team MVP in 2022 after scoring 37 goals along with 19 assists … played club under former UNCW assistant Will Heaney with Wilmington Hammerheads … participated in five ECNL national showcases around the country … also played two seasons of basketball at Clinton.
 
Coach Neal Says: "AP is tough central midfielder that plays very efficiently. She plays quick, simple, and with great vision."
