NCA&T Edges Volleyball In Five Sets

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCW middles Caitlyn Callahan and Brooke Hanshumaker combined for 22 kills and a .404 hitting average, but North Carolina A&T recorded 13 blocks to edge the Seahawks in five sets on Saturday at Moore Gymnasium.

The Aggies ran their record to 8-13 overall on the season and 4-7 in the CAA. The Seahawks, meanwhile, slide to 3-15 and 1-8.

Callahan finished with 12 kills and hit .647 while Hanshumaker added 10 kills of her own. Katie Lanz had 10 kills and Annabelle Schall posted a double-double of 32 assists and a team-high 13 digs.

Maya Johnson led the NCAT effort at the net with seven total blocks and added six kills. Naiya Sawtelle held match-high honors with 16 kills and finished off a double-double with 10 digs.

The Aggies posted 12 aces on the match.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start.
