CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Led by top-15 performances from Mallory Fobes and Victoria Levy, UNCW was tied for fifth with host North Carolina following the first round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Monday at the Governor's Club.
 
Play was suspended in the second round due to lightning, which then caused it to be too dark to continue. The remainder of the round, along with the third round, will be contested on Tuesday.
 
Fobes owns a five-way share of sixth after firing a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round. Levy carded an even-par 72 score to sit tied for 14th place.
 
Duke leads the 14-team field by two strokes over Michigan State. The Blue Devils' Phoebe Brinker and Spartans' Valery Plata pace the individual field with 5-under-par 67 scores after the first round.
