Louviere Wins Second Gold, Breaks Another UNCW Record

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Led by Henderson Louviere's second gold medal of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, UNCW collected three gold medals on the second day of the meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.

The Seahawks trail meet-leader Towson, 601.5-479, entering the final day on Saturday.

Louviere finished off a sweep of the IM with a winning time of 3:53.31 in the 400 IM, which is also a school record. He won the 200 earlier in the meet with a school-record mark of 1:47.02.

Freshman Will Goldey won the 100 Backstroke with a UNCW freshman record time of 48.25 seconds. That mark also ranks sixth all-time at UNCW.

Rounding out the gold medal performances was the 200 Medley Relay of Goldey, Gianmichel D'Alessandro, Louviere and E'Likai Crompton-English. The relay captured the event with a time of 1:26.65, eclipsing the previous program record of 1:27.40 set at the 2013 CAA Championship.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Josh Rigsbee and D'Alessandro earned silver and bronze, respectively.

In the final event of the night, UNCW clocked in at 6:43.04 in taking silver in the 800 Freestyle Relay. Louviere and Rigsbee were joined by Zack Whipple and Eric Cantrell on the relay.

The final day of competition begins at 12:40 p.m. with the prelims followed by the finals at 7:25 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed by FloSports.tv.
