Beau Bunn named Diving Coach of the Year for both men and women

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Following impressive showings at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in March, Kolbein Bjugan, Courtney Klausen, Will Goldey and Beau Bunn earned conference accolades the league announced on Friday.

Bjugan, a sophomore, was honored for the second straight season as the league's Diver of the Year. He defended his conference championships in the 1 and 3-meter boards with scores of 306.90 and 332.85, respectively. Bjugan joined former All-America Dean Berman as the only Seahawks to win both boards in back-to-back seasons.

Klausen, a sophomore, also defended her title in the 1-meter and finished second in the 3-meter dive. She posted scores of 282.20 points in the 1-meter and later finished as runner-up with 286.85 points in the 3-meter.

Both Bjugan and Klausen were honored as the CAA Championship Divers of the Meet.

Goldey, who was named the Rookie Swimmer of the Year, was the conference champion in the 100 and 200 Backstrokes and added a silver as a member of the 400 Medley Relay and another gold in the 200 Medley Relay. His time of 48.25 in the 100 Finals was a UNCW freshman record and was the sixth fastest in UNCW history. In the 200, his time of 1:46.70 ranks fifth.

Rounding out UNCW's award winners was diving coach Beau Bunn, who was honored as the league's Diving Coach of the Year on the men's side and co-coach of the year on the women's.
