Swimming & Diving Splits At Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – UNCW's men's swimming and diving program picked up a win in its lone competition before the Colonial Athletic Association Championships with a victory over Davidson on Friday at the Charles A. Cannon Pool. The women fell to the Wildcats.

The men won, 164-108 while the women dropped to 0-2 with a 165-133 loss.

"It was a great meet for us today at Davidson," said first-year head coach Bobby Guntoro. "We had a lot of personal bests performances and received solid swims up and down both teams. I'm proud of those who have continued to work hard and competed this afternoon."

The Seahawk men posted 12 event wins on the afternoon as Eric Cantrell, Will Goldey and Henderson Louviere won two events apiece.

Cantrell swept the freestyle distance events and Goldey did likewise in the Backstrokes and Louviere in the Flys.

On the women's side, Courtney Klausen swept the 1 and 3-meter boards and Evan Arsenault took first in the 50 and 100 Free.

Gabby Perotti won the 200 Breaststroke with a personal-best time of 2:20.92.

Other event winners included Zackary Whipple (200 Free), Mary Grace Copeland (100 Back), Gianmichel D'Alessandro (100 Breast), E'Likai Crompton-English (50 Free), Kenneth Lowe (100 Free) and Josh Rigsbee (200 Breast).

The Seahawks open the CAA Championships on Mar. 26 with Diving at Newark, Del. The swimming schedule begins on Mar. 29 in Christiansburg, Va.
