DURHAM, N.C. – UNCW captured four events, including a 1-2-3 finish in the women's 400 IM as completed pair of dual meets with Boston College and Duke on Saturday at Taishoff Aquatic Center.
The Seahawk men topped BC, 254.5-174.5, but fell to the host Blue Devils, 252-160. The women dropped both meets by the scores of 287-127 and 266-162 to Duke and BC, respectively.
Freshman
Katie Knorr was one of three UNCW individuals to win events, joining
Gianmichel D'Alessandro (200 Breaststroke) and
Silas Crosby (400 IM).
In the 400 IM, Knorr clocked in with a Colonial Athletic Association leading time of 4:27.55 while
Karsen Pena (4:34.23) and
Sarah Rogillio (4:35.97) took second and third, respectively. Pena's time is third this season in the league.
Giamichel D'Alessandro, meanwhile, won the 200 Breaststroke in a time of 2:04.15 and
Aidan Duffy took second 2:05.12. Duffy, who was second in the 400 IM, registered his second runner-up finish of the afternoon in the event and his time of 4:02.94 ranks second in the conference.
Crosby, a freshman, won the 400 IM, giving UNCW a sweep of the event. Crosby's mark of 4:02.45 was the top time in the CAA this fall.
Junior
Courtney Klausen fashioned a season-high 274.15 points in finishing third in the 1-meter board.
Other impressive performances include
Sam O'Brien (second in the men's 500 Free) and
Brooke Knisely was third in the women's race.
Jacob Duracinsky was second in the 100 Free (45.64),
Will Barker (200 Back,) and
Hannah Owings (200 Breast).
In relay action, the Seahawk men finished second in the 400 Medley Relay and won the 200 Free Relay to close out the meet.
The Seahawks next host William & Mary, Delaware and James Madison in a Colonial Athletic Association pod meet on Nov. 6-7.
