Diamond Hawks Set To Host Chants

UNCW plays the first of two exhibition games this fall

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW will play the first of two fall exhibitions this Saturday when it hosts longtime rival Coastal Carolina at noon.

The exhibition is set for 18 innings. Admission for the game is free and the game will not be streamed.

Head Coach Randy Hood enters his third season at the helm of the program and his 21st season overall with the Seahawks. Hood helped the Seahawks reach a Colonial Athletic Association sixth straight conference tournament championship game in 2021 and finished with a 32-22 record.

The Chanticleers enter their 26th season under the guidance of Gary Gilmore. Coastal finished the 2020 season with a 27-24 record.

Returning for the Seahawks this season are first-team All-CAA selections catcher Matt Suggs, outfielder Brooks Baldwin and reliever Hunter Hodges, who also earned All-Rookie honors.

UNCW won 2-of-3 against CCU last season, splitting two games at Brooks Field, and winning in Conway.

The Seahawks will visit South Carolina on Oct. 23 for its second and final exhibition of the fall.
