ORLANDO, Florida – Sophomore Mallory Fobes carded a career-low 3-under-par 69 to lead the UNCW women's golf team during the opening round of the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Seahawks, who are opening their 2020-21 schedule, finished the first round with a 304 team score. Arkansas shot a blistering 15-under-par 273 to take a three-stroke lead over Kent State.
 
Fobes, who posted the first under-par round of her UNCW career, posted six birdies during the opening round to claim a share of sixth place.
 
Junior Phu Khine posted a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round and holds a piece of 57th place entering the second round.   
 
Up Next: The second round of the UCF Challenge is slated for Monday, Feb. 1, with a split tee start beginning at 8 a.m. UNCW will tee off from the No. 10 hole starting at 9:40 a.m.
