WILMINGTON, North Carolina – A pair of former Colonial Athletic Association rivals reunite on Sunday afternoon when Coach
Chris Neal and the UNCW women's soccer team visits VCU for a 1 p.m. non-conference matinee at Sports Backers Stadium.
Sunday's game can be seen online via ESPN+ while live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.
Both teams bring unblemished 3-0-0 records into Sunday's tilt after winning at home on Thursday night. UNCW opened its home schedule with a 3-1 victory over Coastal Carolina while VCU blanked Loyola Maryland, 4-0, in Richmond.
Opening Kick-Off
- VCU leads the all-time series by an 11-5-3 margin, but the Seahawks have won four of the last five installments following a 3-1 victory last year at Sports Backers Stadium.
- Both teams have been excellent offensively through the first three games. UNCW paces the CAA with eight goals while VCU has erupted for 10 goals in its first three outings, including a five-goal explosion at Longwood last Sunday.
- UNCW will be looking to improve to 4-0-0 for the first time since 2004 when the Seahawks began the year with nine consecutive victories.
- The Seahawks' defense has been strong in the early part of the season, allowing just two goals on 17 shots.
- UNCW fashioned a 5-4-0 record in true road games last year.
Up Next: The Seahawks continue a three-game road swing on Thursday, Sept. 5, when they make the short trip to East Carolina for a 7 p.m. encounter against the Pirates.
