UNCW Drops Series Finale, 7-4

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Hunter Goodman had two hits and drove in four runs for Memphis as the Tigers knocked off UNCW to win the weekend series at FedExPark on Sunday.

Memphis ran its record to 10-8 with the series clinching win while the Seahawks fell to 11-10.

Goodman knocked in two runs in the first inning with a two-run single and did so again in the second inning as Memphis built a 6-2 lead.

Chris Durham (1-1) earned the win, limiting UNCW to two runs on five hits over 5.1 innings. Joshua Sheer recorded his first save of the season.

Noah Bridges led UNCW with two hits, including a double, and Broadus Roberson belted his first career homer in a two-run second inning.

Gage Herring (0-1) took the loss for UNCW, allowing six runs on four hits and four walks over 1.1 innings.

Up next: The Seahawks continue their road stretch on Mar. 20 with a 6:30 p.m. start at East Carolina.

How it happened: The Tigers scored four in the bottom of the second to take the lead, 6-2. A two-run single by Goodman highlighted the inning which also included a run on a wild pitch and another coming across on a sac fly.

Notes: The weekend series loss was the first for the Seahawks this season … Roberson's first career hit was a home run in the top of the second … UNCW relievers Blake Deatherage and Zarion Sharpe combined for 6.2 innings of two-hit, one-run relief.
