UNCW Swimming Signs Four For 2020-21


WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW head swimming and diving coach Jason Memont has announced the signings of four student-athletes to compete for the Seahawks beginning with the 2020-21 season.

Kenneth Lowe (Cornelius, N.C.) comes to the program from William Amos Hough High School. Lowe was a scholar All-America for the Huskies and was a finalist in the 100 Freestyle at the 4A State Championship. As a freshman, he won the 50 and 100 Free at the 4A Western Regional meet. Lowe swims for SwimMAC.
Top times for Lowe: 200 Free: 1:40.14 | 10 Breaststroke: 56.6 | 200 IM: 1:51.61

Zackary Whipple (Denver, N.C.) is a highly decorated swimmer from Lincoln Charter School. He's a state champion, three-time All-Conference selection and finished second in the state championship meet five times. This season he's serving as captain of the Eagles. Whipple also competes for SwimMAC.

Hannah Owings (Silver Spring, Md.) comes to the Seahawk program after competing at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club. Owings, who is the team captain this season, is a NCSA qualifier and a two-time WCAC champion.

Brooke Knisely (Roanoke, Va.) is a first-team Tinesland honoree and has helped Patrick Henry High School to three state championships. Knisely also competes with the Virginia Gators.

The Seahawks open their spring semester schedule on Jan. 10 when the women compete at Campbell.
