Bjugan Wins Twice At CAA Pod Meet

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman Kolbein Bjugan continued his strong start to his collegiate diving career, winning both the 1 and 3-meter boards on Saturday at the Colonial Athletic Association pod meet hosted by Hames Madison at Savage Natatorium.

After one day of competition, the Seahawk men lead Delaware, 185-55, and trail defending CAA champion William & Mary, 139-95. On the women's side, UNCW also leads Delaware, 125-108, but trails William & Mary, 141-87, and defending champion JMU, 185-55.

Bjugan captured the 1-meter with 270.15 points and later earned first-place honors in the 3-meter board with 345.65 points.

In swimming, senior Jack Cosgrove delivered a win in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:41.56.

UNCW earned first and second in the men's 100 Breaststroke behind strong efforts from juniors Gianmichael D'Alessandro (56.72 seconds) and Josh Rigsbee (56.93).

Senior Will Countie rounded out the Seahawk highlights, taking second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 50.52.

Senior Abby Hawkes (58.78) led the women with a second-place finish in the 100 Backstroke.

The meet concludes on Sunday with one session beginning at 9:30 a.m. The remaining events include the 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
