Swimming & Diving Preview: Old Dominion


WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks swim their second meet of the season, also the second at home, this Saturday when they welcome Old Dominion to the Seahawk Natatorium for an 11 a.m. start.

UNCW dropped its opened to Tennessee in late September but did see some strong performances out of the gate.

Seniors Sean Cannon and Will Countie posted wins in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke, respectively, while junior Gianmichael D'Alessandro captured the 100 Breaststroke.

Junior Evan Arsenault finished second in the women's 100 Free. Meagan Robbins, a freshman, and Hannah Albanese, a junior, won the 100 Fly and 200 IM, respectively.

On the boards, freshmen Kolbein Bjugan and Courtney Klausen were named Divers of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association for their efforts against Tennessee. Bjugan picked up a pair of third-place finishes in the men's 1 and 3-meter boards while Klausen set a UNCW freshman record with 271.13 points in the 1-meter.

The Seahawks visit East Carolina on Oct. 25 for a 5 p.m. start.
