UNCW Wins Twice On Senior Day

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW sent off its 16 seniors off in grand fashion on Saturday at the Seahawk Natatorium with a convincing sweep of Gardner-Webb. The women won 193-99 while the men coasted to a 186-88 victory.

The Seahawk women improved to 4-5 with their fourth straight meet win while the men ran their record to 4-2 and extended their own winning streak to two. GWU, meanwhile, dropped to 3-3-1 on the men's side and the women remained winless at 0-9.

UNCW sophomore Josh Rigsbee paced the impressive outing with three event wins. Rigsbee won both the 100 and 200 yard Breaststroke and later in the meet added a victory in the 200 IM.

The Seahawk women featured a handful of multi-event winners. Senior Meagan Johnson won both Breaststroke events, sophomore Faith Pilcher added two wins in the 50 and 100 yard Freestyle sprints and senior Kyra Schemmel won the 1000 Free and the 200 IM.

Junior Zach Towers picked up wins in the 100 and 200 Fly events for the Seahawks.

Also posting wins for UNCW were Graham Cooper (1000 Free), Evan Arsenault (200 Free), Jack Cosgrove (200 Free), Tom McGovern (50 Free), Sean Cannon (100 Free), Brent Hoshall (200 Backstroke), Shannon Howell (100 Backstroke), Avery Gambill (500 Free) and Vivian Louviere (100 Fly).

In Diving, UNCW's Trent Igoe won both boards while senior Bri Urich and sophomore Nicole Costello won the 1 and 3-meter boards, respectively.

The Seahawks next compete at the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 25-26 in Columbia, S.C.
