Baseball Preview: At East Carolina

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW (19-8) concludes its five-game road stretch on Tuesday when it visits nationally-ranked East Carolina (20-6) for a 6:30 p.m. start.

Both teams are coming off series wins with the Seahawks taking two at William & Mary and the Pirates do likewise against visiting Wichita State.

Red-shirt sophomore Breydan Gorham (0-2) will get the start for the Seahawks while ECU counters with sophomore lefthander Jake Agnos (2-2).

UNCW returns to Brooks Field this weekend when it hosts Wofford in a three-game non-conference series opening on Friday at 6 p.m.

  1. ECU is ranked 12th by D1Baseball.com and is also ranked in the NCBWA and USAToday/Coaches polls
  2. The Seahawks and Pirates were postponed earlier this season in Wilmington and will make that game up on May 9 at Brooks Field
  3. Gorham is making his fourth start of the season and the first since Mar. 13
  4. ECU head coach Cliff Godwin served on the coaching staff of UNCW Head Coach Scalf's 2004 CAA Championship Team
  5. UNCW senior Mason Berne leads the CAA with a .384 batting average and ranks among the conference leaders in on-base average, slugging percentage, RBI's and home runs
