RALEIGH, N.C. – Pat Cover and Blake McShea are tied for fifth and Reese McFarlane is tied for seventh as UNCW enters the second round of the Colonial Athletic Association men's golf championships in second place, eight strokes off the pace at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Friday.

JMU leads the tournament after carding a two-over-par 290 thanks to a pair of Dukes in Walker Cress (69) and Matt Cowgill (71) in the top three.

Cress leads the field at three-under while Cowgill is tied with Drexel's Aaron Fricke for second at one-under-par.

Powering McShea's strong effort on Friday was his tournament-leading 3.88 stroke average on par-four holes. Cover, meanwhile, played even-par on par three's and converted four birdies. Also knocking down four birdies was McFarlane, who also posted a 4.80 average on par five's.
