3/27/2018 8:57:00 AM

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - UNCW opens a four-game roadstand Tuesday night at Campbell as the Seahawks visit their longtime rival in the first of the annual home-and-home series between the two programs.

UNCW (16-7) opened Colonial Athletic Association play last weekend with a series win over visiting Hofstra. The Seahawks dropped the opener, but rebounded with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday to clinch the series. Campbell (13-10) remained perfect in the Big South by sweeping Gardner-Webb and upping its record to 6-0.

Red-shirt sophomore Blake Deatherage (0-0) will make his starting debut for the Seahawks while Campbell will do the same with freshman righthander Jamil Vanheyningen (0-0).

UNCW continues its brief roadswing ith three games at CAA opponent William & Mary this weekend. The series begins on Friday with a 6 p.m. start at Plumeri Park.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. The Seahawks own an 80-40-1 advantage in the series, which dates back to when both programs were junior colleges
  2. The Camels swept last year's home-and-home series
  3. Mason Berne and Gage Herring were named Player and Rookie-of-the-Week by the CAA
  4. Berne became the third Seahawk to homer twice in a game this season when he launched round trippers in the Hofstra opener
