Women's Basketball Preview: Charleston

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – The road portion of the regular season schedule comes to a close for the UNCW women's basketball team on Friday afternoon as the Seahawks seek to earn a season split against the College of Charleston inside TD Arena.

Opening tip-off for the Colonial Athletic Association matinee between the Seahawks and the Cougars is slated for an 11:30 a.m. Education Day start.
 
Both UNCW and Charleston are looking to rebound from a league loss in their most recent outings. The Seahawks, 9-17 overall and 2-13 in the CAA, dropped a 65-48 setback against league-leading James Madison on Sunday afternoon. Charleston, meanwhile, has lost 12 of its last 13 games after a 79-51 defeat at Delaware on Sunday.
 
Five Things to Know
  1. Charleston leads the all-time series by a slim 12-11 margin, but has won five of the last seven installments against its regional rival.
  2. The Cougars claimed a 72-63 victory over UNCW in the first meeting at Trask Coliseum on Feb. 9. The Seahawks attempted a school-record 37 three-pointers in that setback.
  3. Senior Madison Raque is averaging 11.8 points per game in her last four meetings against the Cougars, including a 17-point effort in the first meeting on Feb. 9.
  4. The Seahawks have played 17 of their 26 games this season in the afternoon.
  5. Senior Rebekah Banks enters Friday's game needing 13 rebounds to move into seventh place on the Seahawks' career list. The Durham, N.C., product has tallied 677 rebounds in her career.     
Up Next: UNCW closes the regular season schedule next week with a pair of home games against CAA opponents. The Seahawks welcome Towson to Trask Coliseum on Thursday, Mar. 1, before facing defending league champion Elon for Senior Day on Saturday, Mar. 3.
