LIHUE, Hawaii – Sophomore
Blake McShea finished in second-place at the John Burns Intercollegiate, helping the Seahawks tie for seventh in their spring season debut in Lihue, Hawaii.
Texas A&M posted a low-round of 274 on Saturday to win the team championship. Leading the Aggies was Chandler Phillips, who earned medalist honors with a three-day total of 203 strokes.
Buoyed by a pair of eagles, McShea finished four under for the third and final round as he rose from a tie for fourth to finish three strokes off the lead.
The Seahawks opened the day in 14th overall, closed out the tournament with a round of 279, the second lowest score in the final round. UNCW finished tied with Grand Canyon for seventh.
Freshman
Christofer Rahm joined McShea with a four-under-par 68 on Saturday while
Pat Cover (71),
Thomas Eldridge (72) and
Reese McFarlane (73) rounded out the UNCW lineup.
The Seahawks visit Auburn, Ala., on Mar. 4 for the Auburn Intercollegiate.
