McShea Moves Into Top-Five At John Burns

A second round 66 helps the sophomore into a tie for fourth

LIHUE, Hawaii – Sophomore Blake McShea carded a six-under-par 66 in the second round to jump into a tie for fourth-place through 36 holes at the John Burns Intercollegiate on Friday.

Results through two rounds

UNLV continues to lead the 20-team field, but saw its lead narrowed to six strokes over Texas A&M as the Aggies carded a 278 in Friday's round. The Seahawks moved into 14th place.

Shintaro Ban of UNLV remained in the tournament-lead and pushed his lead to three strokes over Chandler Phillips and David Laskin of TAMU and Arizona, respectively.

McShea used seven birdies to power his way into the top-five. The sophomore finished his round with three straight birdies.

The Seahawks will close out their tournament appearance with a 1 p.m. EST tee off and will be paired with UC Irvine, UTEP and Washington State.
