UNCW enters Friday in fourth place in the men's meet and sixth in the women. James Madison and William & Mary lead the women's and men's meets, respectively.
"Tonight got off to a great start with two freshmen setting the pace with huge drops from their best times," said UNCW Head Coach Jason Memont. "We were so excited coming out of the gate and the momentum was carried right through our medleys into a big strong point for our team in the sprints.

Arsenault posted a time of 23 seconds in finishing third. Also in the women's 50 Free, Faith Pilcher and Megan Lahr finished 1-2 in the consolation finals with times of 23.33 and 23.37, respectively.

Sean Cannon and Tom McGovern finished fourth and eighth, respectively in the men's 50 Free Championship finals. Jon Suits was second in the consolation finals.

Senior Adyson Lowe captured the consolation finals in the 3-meter dive with a score of 287.40.

Freshman Josh Rigsbee, who also set a UNCW rookie record earlier in the day, finished fifth in the 200 IM.

Sophomore Jack Cosgrove posted an eighth-place finish in the 500 Free to open the meet.

The Seahawks closed out the night with a pair of top-three finishes in the 200 Free Relays. The men took second with a season-best time of 1:20.67 and the women were third at 1:32.12, also a season-best.

"I was so proud of both our 200 Free Relays making it onto the podium tonight as all eight swimmers had really tremendous splits. I think the team can't wait to get back to the pool tomorrow morning and continue the momentum with one of our strongest days. We find ourselves in a tight team race so the morning session is going to be very important for us."

The meet continues on Friday with the prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
