Aqahawks Close Out CAA Pod Meet


NEWARK, Del.Will Countie won the men's 200 Backstroke and swam the opening leg of UNCW's winning 400 Medley Relay as the Seahawk men split two meets on Sunday at the Colonial Athletic Association pod meet at the Rawstrom Natatorium.

The men topped host Delaware, 259.5-81.5, but fell to defending conference champion William & Mary, 187-154. UNCW's women's team dropped all three meets to UD (192.5-160.5), W&M (242-105) and defending champion James Madison (264-89).

Countie, a transfer from South Carolina, posted a winning time of 1:49.74 in the 200 Back and helped the relay post a first-place time of 3:23.08.

Josh Rigsbee also earned a win in the 200 Breaststroke (2:07.25) and swan on the winning medley relay.

Thomas McGovern added a win in the 100 Free, touching the wall in a time of 46.11 seconds.

Freshman Dillon Hall, who won the 1-meter dive on Saturday, won the 3-meter event with a score of 255.80 points.

Faith Pilcher and Adyson Lowe had a pair of third-place finishes for the women. Pilcher as third in the 100 Free (53.03) and Lowe placed third in the 1-meter dive (251.80)

The Seahawks close out the fall semester on Nov. 15-27 at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
