WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW Head Women's Soccer Coach
Chris Neal has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to play for the Seahawks in 2019.
Hannah Arostegui of Raleigh, N.C., joins Jordan Faveri of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, as the first players to sign with the Seahawks since Neal took over the program in July.
Arostegui played for the North Carolina Courage Academy as an outside forward and center back. The 5-6 Arostegui, who attends Leesville Road High School, is ranked among the top 150 players in the country, according to soccer website Top Drawer Soccer.
"Hannah is an extremely versatile and skilled player," Neal said. "She has a ton of experience playing at a very high level with North Carolina FC. More importantly, she is respected as an incredible teammate by everyone in her club. We are very excited that she will be a Seahawk."
Faveri, a 5-7 forward, has played five seasons with the Burlington Youth Soccer Club and nine seasons with the Guelph Soccer Club. In addition, she led John F. Ross CVI to a pair of district titles and a regional championship in 2017.
Faveri also paced Burlington Youth Soccer Club to the 2018 Ontario Cup title in addition to a pair of Umbro Showcase crowns.
According to Neal, "Jordan is a dynamic, athletic and skilled attacking player. Some players just have goal-scoring DNA and Jordan is one of them. She plays for one of the top club teams in Canada and will bring international influence to our roster. We are very excited to add Jordan to the squad."
