Women's Basketball Preview: Delaware

NEWARK, Delaware – Long time, no see.

The UNCW women's basketball team dropped a decision against Delaware just eight days ago in Trask Coliseum. Now, it's time for the Seahawks to try for a win on the Blue Hens' home floor as the two squads square off in Colonial Athletic Association action on Sunday at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Both UNCW and Delaware are coming off a loss in their most recent outings. The Seahawks, who sit at 7-12 overall and 0-8 in the CAA, have been idle since a 63-48 setback against CAA-leading James Madison last Sunday. Delaware, meanwhile, fell to 12-7 on the season with a 5-3 mark in league play after a 64-53 loss against Northeastern on Friday night.

Five Things to Know
  1. UNCW and Delaware face each other for the 35th time in a series that dates back to the 2001-02 season. The Blue Hens have won five straight meetings and lead the all-time series by a 26-8 margin.
  2. The Seahawks will be aiming to win at the Bob Carpenter Center for the first time since Mar. 13, 2008 when they defeated Delaware by a 59-56 margin in the CAA Tournament.
  3. Senior guard Madison Raque led the Seahawks with 13 points in the first meeting this season while sophomore guard Lacey Suggs added 12 points.
  4. Delaware junior forward Nicole Enabosi leads the CAA by averaging 18.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. She also paces the 10-team circuit with 14 double-double efforts in 19 games this season.
  5. The Seahawks lead the CAA in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to make just 27.7 percent of their attempts.
Up Next: UNCW continues its three-game road swing next weekend with a pair of CAA contests in the Northeast Region. The Seahawks visit Northeastern on Friday, Feb. 2, before traveling to Hofstra for a Super Bowl Sunday match-up.
