WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team puts the finishing touches on a three-game home string on Saturday when longtime Colonial Athletic Association rival William & Mary visits Trask Coliseum for the first of two matchups this season between the two clubs.

Live Seahawk Digital Network (SDN) coverage of the UNCW-W&M contest begins at 6:45 p.m. with Mike Vaccaro, the "Voice of the Seahawks," and Marty Feurer providing the call. Visit UNCWsports.com/SDN for live audio coverage. In addition, a radio broadcast of the game may be heard on "The Ticket" 95.9 FM and WKXB (99.9 FM-HD3).

The Seahawks (7-14, 4-5 CAA) and Tribe (13-7, 6-3 CAA) collide at 7 p.m. in a game that will have a pivotal impact on the CAA standings as the league's 10 members prepare to move into the final month of the regular season.

W&M sits in a tie for second place in the loop with the College of Charleston, with both teams trailing frontrunner Northeastern by one game. UNCW has climbed into a three-way logjam for sixth place with Elon and Delaware.

The Seahawks are coming off a hard-earned 71-68 victory over James Madison on Thursday night that gave C.B. McGrath's club its first two-game winning streak of the season. Junior forward Devontae Cacok turned in a spectacular performance, scoring 26 points and grabbing a whopping 24 rebounds, for only the second 20-20 game in Seahawk history.

The Tribe, meanwhile, makes its way down to the coast after suffering a tough 96-82 overtime setback at Towson. W&M built a 47-37 cushion at halftime, but the Tigers shot 57.1 percent in the second half to force overtime and sealed the deal by outscoring the Tribe, 17-3, in the extra session.

"We're making progress, but we can get better," said McGrath. "William & Mary has some experienced guys back, but also some young players. Coach (Tony) Shaver has been there a long time and he know what he's doing. They live and die by the three. Sometimes they go in and sometimes they don't. Every game, whoever it is, you really don't know who's going to win.

William & Mary is the second straight opponent from Virginia for the Seahawks. UNCW is only the second North Carolina foe this season for the Tribe.

The Seahawks and Tribe are meeting for the 71st time. UNCW leads the all-time series by a 43-27 margin, but W&M has taken six of the last 10 pairings.

The two teams each won on their home court last year. UNCW eclipsed the century mark in a 101-77 rout of the Tribe on Jan. 12, 2017, at Trask Coliseum, but W&M returned the favor with a 96-78 verdict later on Jan. 28, 2017, in Williamsburg, Va. The Seahawks then outscored the Tribe, 105-94, in the semifinals of the 2017 CAA Tournament in Charleston.

In the first matchup between the two schools last season, six players reached double figures and UNCW moved to 5-0 in the CAA for the first time with a 101-77 rout on Jan. 12, 2017, at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks shot behind 64.7 percent in the second half. Chris Flemmings, Denzel Ingram and C.J. Bryce each poured in 18 points and Devontae Cacok added his third straight double-double as the Seahawks broke away with a big second half by scoring 32 points off 17 Tribe turnovers. Jack Whitman had a career-high 21 points for W&M.

The Seahawks have just nine games remaining in the regular season - four at home and five on the road – and next head to the Northeast for a two-game swing to Hofstra and Northeastern. UNCW begins the challenging swing on Thursday night, Feb. 1, when they take on Hofstra's Pride in Hempstead, N.Y.
