WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW won a combined 28 events in its home finale as the Seahawks swam past visiting Davidson in a Senior Day sweep of the Wildcats on Saturday at the Seahawk Natatorium.
Scores: Women: UNCW, 219-79 | Men: 199-78
The Seahawk women raised their record to 6-4 with their second straight win while the men ran their record to 4-3 in their spring semester opener. Davidson fell to 0-6 on the women's side and 1-4 on the men's.
Shannon Howell (100 & 200 Backstrokes) and
Kyra Schemmel (200 IM, 500 & 1000 Freestyles) combined for five individual event wins and Howell swam the leadoff leg of the winning 400 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Other multi-event winners on the women's side were
Meagan Johnson (200 Butterfly, 200 Breaststroke),
Evan Arsenault (50 & 100 Freestyle) and diver
Adyson Lowe, who won both the 1 and 3-meter boards and qualified for the NCAA Zone qualifiers.
Sean Cannon (50 & 100 Freestyle),
Connor Forsythe (100 & 200 Butterfly) and
Josh Rigsbee (200 Breaststroke, 200 IM) combined for six event wins for UNCW.
Other event winners for the Seahawks include:
Annie Shirk (200 Free), Jack Cosgrove (200 Free), Gianmichael D'Alessandro (100 Breast), Cole Peterson (200 Back), Charlotte Watts (100 Fly).
UNCW visits Gardner-Webb on Jan. 20 when it returns to action.
