Men's Golf In Third At Golfweek Conference Challenge

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Sophomore Blake McShea is tied for third while senior Pat Cover and junior Stephen Saleeby are tied for 13th as UNCW sits in third place after 18 holes on Sunday at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

First Round Results

NC State combined to finish the opening round 14-under to take a commanding nine-stroke lead over Big 10 member and host, Iowa.

NCSU's Stephen Franken (66) enters the second round with a one-stroke lead at six-under-par over Georgia's Spencer Ralston (67).

McShea, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association's Player-of-the-Week, carded a four-under-par 68 on the strength of six birdies and is tied for third with NC State's Benjamin Shipp.

Cover and Saleeby, meanwhile, are in an eight-way tie for 13th at one-under-par.

UNCW tees off the middle round on Monday at 11 a.m. CST and will be paired with NC State and Iowa
