Ellinoora Moisio fired a two-over-par 74 as UNCW remained in 14th place after the second round at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks posted a 299 team score in the second round, improving their opening round score by five strokes. Furman holds a one-stroke lead over Florida heading into the final round.
"I am pleased that we improved from the first round," Coach
Cindy Ho said. "Our ball striking was excellent and we played much better than our score. We had lots of great birdie opportunities and just needed a few to fall early in the round to get us going. We are close to putting a great round together and just need to stay patient and playing smart."
Moisio, who is tied for 43rd place, posted a pair of birdies in the round on the third and 18th holes.
Juniors
Lyberty Anderson and
Alaina Yeatts along with freshman
Thao My Nguyen each shot a 75 in the second round. Anderson is tied for 43rd place entering the final round while Yeatts holds a share of 65th place. Nguyen is tied for 73rd place with a score of 153 through two rounds.
Junior
Kayla Thompson completed the Seahawks' efforts in the second round by carding a four-over-par 76, improving from her opening round score by six strokes.
The final round of the Clemson Invitational begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.
