James Madison carries a six-game win streak into Friday's visit to the Port City in addition to an 18-6 record and an 11-2 mark in league play. The Dukes are tied for first place in the league standings with Elon after defeating the Phoenix, 61-54, at the JMU Convocation Center on Sunday afternoon.
Led by first-year Coach
Sean O'Regan, the Dukes have boasted the league's top scoring offense by scoring 71.1 points per game. James Madison also holds the top field goal percentage defense in the 10-team circuit as opponents are shooting just 35.7 percent from the field.
Redshirt senior guard
Precious Hall, the CAA's Preseason Player-of-the-Year, leads the CAA in scoring with a 23.3 average. She has scored in double figures in all 24 games this season, including a 46-point performance against Rutgers on Dec. 5. The Tallahassee, Fla., native has posted four 20-point efforts in her last seven outings.
Redshirt junior forward
Amber Porter was named as a co-recipient of the CAA's Player-of-the-Week award on Monday after averaging 16.0 points per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the field. She scored 20 points in the win over Elon after a 12-point, 7-rebound effort against Delaware.
UNCW and James Madison square off for the 69th time in a series that dates back to the 1984-85 season. The Dukes, who hold a 59-9 advantage in the series, have won 13 straight meetings against the Seahawks, including a 73-51 triumph on Jan. 2 in Harrisonburg.
Following Friday's contest, the Seahawks welcome Hofstra to Wilmington for a Sunday matinee at noon. UNCW defeated Hofstra, 56-54, in overtime on Jan. 20 at the Mack Sports Complex.
