The Seahawks, 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the CAA, will be aiming to end a four-game losing streak when they host the Dragons after dropping a 76-37 verdict against College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon in TD Arena. Redshirt senior forward
Jordan Henry posted her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds while junior center
Rebekah Banks matched her season high with 11 rebounds.
Junior guard
Madison Raque continues to lead the UNCW offense by averaging 11.2 points per game while Banks, who has posted 10 or more rebounds in seven of the last nine outings, ranks third in the CAA with an 8.5 rebounding average.
Off to one of the best starts in program history, Drexel brings an 11-3 overall record to its visit to the Port City with a 2-1 mark in league play. The Dragons have won eight of their last nine games after dispatching Northeastern, 63-33, on Sunday afternoon in Boston.
Senior guard
Jessica Pellechio led the Dragons to the win on Sunday, making seven of eight shots from the floor, including a 6-for-7 effort from three-point range, en route to a 20-point performance. She also became the 24th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
Senior forward
Sarah Curran ranks sixth in the CAA with a 15.0 point per game average and is ninth in the circuit by making 45.6 percent of her field goal attempts.
UNCW and Drexel will be meeting for the 27th time in a series that dates back to the 2001-02 season. The Dragons have a commanding 18-8 advantage over the Seahawks and have won each of the last nine contests.
Following Friday's contest, the Seahawks remain at home to face William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m.
