Seahawks Prepare for Clash With Campbell

UNCW NotesLive Stats
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Hoping to continue its season-opening unbeaten streak, the UNCW women's soccer team makes the short trip to Campbell on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. non-conference game against the Camels.

Live stats for the game can be found by clicking here.

The Seahawks, off to a 3-0-1 start, enter the week as one of the top scoring teams in NCAA Division I. Led by freshman forward Nikki Cox, the two-time reigning Colonial Athletic Association Rookie-of-the-Week, UNCW ranks third in the nation with 16 goals while its 42 points are good for fifth nationally.

Cox, who is the leading scorer in the CAA, is tied for third in the country with 13 points with six goals and an assist. She posted her second multi-goal game of the season with a two-goal performance in Sunday's 4-1 victory over UMBC.

Off to a 2-1-0 start, Campbell has been idle since suffering a 4-0 setback against Alabama on Friday night. The Camels posted a 4-1 victory against American in their home opener on Aug. 21 after beginning the season with a 1-0 overtime win against Davidson.

Senior Payton Ormsby leads the Campbell offense with two goals and one assist while three other players have notched a goal in the first three games. Freshman goalkeeper Natalya Marcove has started all three games for the Camels, posting a 1.63 goals against average with a .706 save percentage.

UNCW and Campbell will be meeting for the 13th time in a series the Seahawks lead by a 9-3-0 margin. The Seahawks have won five consecutive games against the Camels, including a 2-0 victory last year in Wilmington.

Following Wednesday's contest, the Seahawks return home to welcome NC State to the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m.
