UPPER MARLBORO, Maryland – The UNCW women's basketball team opens play at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Wednesday afternoon by facing College of Charleston in the opening game of the tournament at Show Place Arena.

The Seahawks, who are the ninth seed for the 10-team tournament, face the eighth-seeded Cougars at 12 p.m. in the first of two first round games. Live stats for Wednesday's game can be found by logging onto UNCWStats.com while CAA.tv will provide a live video broadcast.

UNCW and College of Charleston met just one week ago in the Seahawks' regular season finale. The Cougars limited the Seahawks to just nine points in the second half en route to a convincing victory at TD Arena. Junior guard

Shatia Cole, who earned Third-Team All-CAA honors on Tuesday, enters the CAA Tournament as the Seahawks' leading scorer with a 12.7 average while posting a team-high 39 steals. She has scored in double figures in 19-of-29 games this year, including a season-high 23 points against Hofstra on Jan. 15.

Steele, who ranks third on the team with a 9.2 point per game average, has reached double figures in 9 of the last 12 games, including a career-high 23 points at Drexel on Valentine's Day. She is also the team leader with 78 assists and is third on the squad with 28 steals.

College of Charleston enters the CAA Tournament with a 10-19 overall record after posting a 5-13 mark in conference play. The Cougars ended the regular season with seven losses in their final eight games after dropping a 76-46 decision against defending CAA champion James Madison on Saturday.

Breanna Bolden leads the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per outing. Senior forward
Jackie Luna-Castro ranks second on the squad with a 10.9 scoring average while making 50.0 percent of her field goal attempts.

Wednesday's game marks the 19th all-time meeting between the Seahawks and the Cougars. The series is tied at 9-all, but Charleston has won four of the last six encounters against UNCW.

The winner of Wednesday's tournament opener advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday against top-seeded James Madison at 12 p.m.
