WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's basketball team begins a three-game homestand on Friday, Feb. 5, when the Seahawks welcome Drexel to Trask Coliseum for a Colonial Athletic Association match-up at 7 p.m.

Friday's game will also feature Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night as the Seahawks will wear their teal-colored uniforms and the "She Rocks" organization will be present at the game.

Now 6-14 overall and 2-7 in the CAA, the Seahawks have dropped five of their last six games following a 60-40 setback at defending league champion James Madison on Sunday afternoon. Senior guard

Jasmine Steele combined to score 25 of the team's 40 points, but the Seahawks were unable to overcome a strong second quarter by the Dukes, who outscored UNCW by 19-5 in the frame.

Cole, who has scored in double figures in eight straight games, is the Seahawks' leading scorer with a 12.4 average while shooting 36.3 percent from the field. Meanwhile, Steele has tallied six double-digit scoring efforts in her last nine games to raise her scoring average to 7.9 points per outing following a 12-point effort at JMU.

Currently tied for second place in the CAA standings, the Dragons bring an 11-7 overall record and a 7-2 league mark into Friday's contest against the Seahawks. Drexel has won five straight contests after dispatching Delaware, 47-43, on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Junior forward
Sarah Curran led the Dragons to Sunday's victory by scoring 16 points as Drexel raced out to a 14-3 lead before holding off the Blue Hens in the second half. Senior guard
Rachel Pearson added 13 points, including a 3-for-10 effort from long range, while junior guard
Jessica Pellechio chipped in 11 points.

The third-leading scorer in the CAA with a 15.8 average, Curran has scored in double figures in seven consecutive games, including a season-high 31 points against William & Mary on Jan. 10. She also ranks seventh in the CAA with a .475 field goal percentage and is contributing 5.3 rebounds per outing.

UNCW and Drexel are meeting for the 25th time on Friday evening in a series the Dragons lead by a 16-8 margin. Drexel has won the last seven contests over the Seahawks, including a pair of victories last year.

After Friday night's contest, the Seahawks return to Trask Coliseum on Sunday afternoon to welcome William & Mary for a 2 p.m. CAA contest. The Tribe claimed the victory in the first meeting between the two teams this season, a 77-65 triumph in Williamsburg on Jan. 22.
