Seahawks Wrap Up Regular Season This Weekend

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's soccer team closes out its regular season schedule this weekend with a pair of key Colonial Athletic Association contests.

The Seahawks, who are 8-5-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the CAA, host William & Mary on Friday, Oct. 21, before ending the regular season with a visit from Elon on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m.

Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Seahawks occupy the eighth position in the CAA standings, but are just one point behind for the final playoff spot. Northeastern and James Madison are the only teams to secure a CAA Tournament berth while the other eight teams are still in playoff contention.

UNCW will be aiming to rebound from a pair of league losses last weekend. After dropping a tough 1-0 decision at Towson on Friday night, the Seahawks suffered a 4-0 setback at James Madison on Sunday afternoon.

Junior forward Serenity Waters leads the Seahawks' offense with 19 points. She has tallied six goals, including three game-winning markers, with seven assists.

William & Mary carries a 10-6-0 overall record and a 4-3-0 mark in league play into Friday's contest against UNCW. The Tribe has won three consecutive games following a pair of 2-1 victories over Delaware and Drexel last weekend.

Redshirt freshman forward Sarah Segan has notched nine goals with two assists to lead the Tribe while junior midfielder Rachel Moore has added five goals with five assists.

Elon heads into its game at College of Charleston on Friday night with hopes of ending a four-game winless streak after dropping a 2-0 decision against Delaware on Sunday. The Phoenix enters the weekend with a 7-8-2 overall record, including a 2-4-1 mark in league play.

Senior defender Erin Tanhauser and sophomore forward Tori Baliatico have each posted four goals to lead a Phoenix offense which has had 11 different players score a goal this season.
